Whakatū Marae currently provides Whānau Ora services, including, Whānau Ora Navigators and social work services for whānau living within the Nelson, Richmond, districts.
Further to this Whakatū Marae provide support to whānau , in conjunction with Oranga Tamariki, Ministry of Social Development, and Te Pūtahitanga.
Our kaimahi work alongside whānau with complex needs, drawing primarily upon Māori models of practice.
The use of cultural values, such as whakapapa, tikanga, wairua, tapu, mauri, and mana, have the potential to influence wellbeing in whānau relationships, transform behaviours and provide alternatives to lifestyle. Using these imperatives can guide transformative practices and inform strategies for whānau and whānau wellbeing. They can also be seen as protective factors within whānau, hapū and iwi.
