Description

What is Sexual Health Medicine?
Sexual Health Medicine includes: the testing, treatment and management of sexually transmitted infections; genital dermatology and other skin related problems; genital pain problems; reproductive health and sexual assault care. Not all sexual health clinics provide all of these services.

In Wellington, contraception services are not offered within the Sexual Health Service. Smears and contraception are provided by other practitioners such as Family Planning and local GPs.

Other areas of expertise include the sexual health of: adolescents, Maori, Pacific Island and other ethnic groups, sex workers, gay, lesbian and transgender individuals. In addition, the Cuba Street Clinic is home to the regional Sexual Assault Assessment & Treatment Service (SAATS), Tū Pakari Ora.
