Hand Surgery
Dupuytren's Contracture is a common condition. A layer of tissue in the palm gradually thickens and affects the fingers, causing them to curl into the palm. When the fingers cannot be completely straightened, function is affected and surgery is indicated. Dupuytren's can affect any or all of the fingers, and both hands. Several operations may be necessary during a patient's life. Following surgery, hand therapy may be required to restore good motion and function.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
A pinched nerve in the wrist that causes tingling, numbness and pain in your hand may require surgery to decompress the nerve. This operation may be performed under local or general anaesthetic.
