Skin Grafting
Skin grafting may be required to repair wounds after skin cancer removal, and in some other situations.
This involves transferring skin from another part of the body (donor site) to the recipient site. Skin grafting will cause scarring at both the donor and recipient sites. Skin grafting is often performed under local anaesthetic, but larger procedures will require general anaesthetic as an inpatient in hospital.
Sometimes grafts are slow to heal, particularly on the lower leg. Healing may take weeks or months and you may need to wear a support bandage for a similar period.
