Breast Enlargement
Surgery to increase breast size involves inserting silicone gel implants under the chest muscle and existing breast. It is done to enlarge naturally small breasts, and to restore lost volume e.g. after breast feeding or weight loss.
The procedure involves making an incision, usually under the breast or around the areola (the dark area around the nipple), through which the implant is inserted. The surgery is usually performed under general anaesthesia (you will sleep through it) and it will probably take 1–2 hours. You may be able to go home the day of the operation, but you will need to arrange for someone else to drive you. Most patients stay in hospital for 1 night.
You may need to take some medication for pain relief for 1 week or more, and you should rest for a few days after the surgery. You will probably be able to return to work after 7-10 days. There will always be a visible scar, but the scar will continue to fade with time.
