Noise Induced Hearing Loss
Noise induced hearing loss has commonly been associated with the building, manufacturing and engineering industries historically.
Increasingly, recreational pursuits have been implicated as causing hearing difficulty. Examples can include shooting, jet boating and megaphone exposure. Noisy children's toys have also been identified as presenting a risk.
Musicians and music lovers represent a group of special interest to our department with research ongoing in the area of dose exposures and hearing conservation measures.
Assessments for Accident Compensation Corporation and War Pension claims can be performed and applications facilitated at C&CDHB.
