Mothers with Babies in NICU Staying in NICU or Ronald McDonald House
- Capital & Coast District Health Board (CCDHB) >
- Capital & Coast DHB Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Congratulations on the birth of your baby. We understand that having a baby in NICU must be a difficult time for you and your family.
Prior to your discharge from the Postnatal Ward you will be referred to the Social Worker. They will arrange alternative accommodation. They will take into account your individual circumstances.
Once you are discharged from the ward, even as a boarder you will be under the care of your Lead Maternity Carer (LMC).
If you normally live outside the Wellington region, the High Risk Midwifery Team will provide your midwifery care. One of the midwives from the High Risk Midwifery Team should be in contact with you the day after discharge. If for some reason this does not happen please phone the hospital on (04) 385 5999 and ask for the High Risk Midwife to be paged.
