About The Group
Allergy New Zealand is a national not-for-profit organisation that works within the community to improve the quality of life for people with allergies and their families. We offer support, education and information, and we also act as an advocate in all aspects of allergy, including anaphylaxis.
Allergies affect up to 40 per cent of the population. These people live with a variety of allergic conditions, ranging from the life altering to the life threatening. One thing they have in common is their need for information and advice to help them manage their condition effectively (and in some cases safely) on a daily basis.
Allergy New Zealand provides up-to-date evidence-based information, education and resources (books, DVD's etc) about all aspects of allergy, put together in consultation with our Medical Panel. We also provide education programmes for health and education professionals, as well as the food industry.
Our national support network of volunteers who themselves live with allergies, can provide support by phone and/or in support group meetings in local areas. Allergy New Zealand’s members receive regular updates on food recall and food alerts notices relevant to people with food allergies, as well as e-newsletters and discounts on resources and products. Subscribers also receive a quarterly magazine (Allergy Today).
