Bowel Preparation Pre-Surgery (Gynaecology)

Your specialist has discussed the need for a bowel surgery preparation to commence 2 days prior to your planned gynaecology surgery.

What is bowel surgery preparation?
Bowel surgery preparation cleanses the bowel so that bowel surgery (if needed) can be performed safely. It usually includes a liquid diet and a medicine called Fleet to empty your bowels by causing diarrhoea like bowel motions.

You need to prepare your bowel at home before coming into hospital for your surgery. This is not a pleasant process, but is necessary in case any bowel work is required.
