Pukekohe Hospital
Description
Pukekohe Hospital was opened in 1953 as a maternity unit. In 1979 a Geriatric ward was built. Over time, the Hospital has changed its focus with ten clinic rooms utilised by visiting specialists from Counties Manukau DHB and the community.
Pukekohe Hospital currently has 45 staff covering 30 beds. The Adult Rehabilitation and Care Ward specialises in non acute rehabilitation, palliative and long stay hospital care.
The service is managed by an Operations Manager, Registered Nurses, Allied Health Professionals and Health Care Assistants and supported by local General Practitioners and the Community Geriatrician from CMDHB.
Pukekohe Hospital hosts the Mobile Surgical Unit every six weeks, offering minor surgery on referral.
Maternity services, Home Health Care, Public Health Nurses and an Outpatient Rehabilitation Service are also based at the Hospital.
Two Resource Centres operate within the Pukekohe Hospital facility.
The Centre for Independent Living (www.independentliving.org.nz ) which offers advice and practical solutions for remaining active and independent at home. It is run by the health professional team from Home Health Care.
Also the Maternity Resource Centre offers advice for pregnancy and antenatal care.
Parking
There are six disability car parks at the front entrance of Pukekohe Hospital. Free, first come first served parking is available along the drive at the front entrance.

Charges
There are no charges for services to public patients if you are lawfully in New Zealand and meet one of the Eligibility Directions specified criteria set by the Ministry of Health. If you do not meet the criteria, you will be required to pay for the full costs of any medical treatment you receive during your stay.
