Franklin Memorial Hospital is located in country-like surroundings with rural views.  As the name suggests, the Hospital (opened in 1923) was a war memorial bequeathed to the town. 

It was originally a General Hospital before becoming an Obstetric Hospital in 1956.  Since then it has become an Older Adult Care Facility, which is a satellite unit of Counties Manukau District Health Board.

Franklin Memorial Hospital has 28 staff covering 18 beds (12 Hospital Level Residential Care, 6 Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation and Palliative Care).

General Hours: from 11am until 8pm - outside of these hours can be arranged with the Charge Nurse.

Palliative Care: at any suitable time.

A coin-operated food dispenser is available for patients and visitors.   Reception does not provide coins to exchange.

The local New World grocery store is located a short drive towards the main Waiuku town centre.  Restaurants, cafe bars and takeaway shops are also located within the local town centre.

From the Southern Motorway you will need to take the Pukekohe/Drury off-ramp and follow the signs to Waiuku.  The distance is approximately 22kms from the off-ramp and is about a 20 min drive.

There is no access to any public transport services. 

Free parking is available for all visitors and staff.

Charges

There are no charges for services to public patients if you are lawfully in New Zealand and meet one of the Eligibility Directions specified criteria set by the Ministry of Health.  If you do not meet the criteria, you will be required to pay for the full costs of any medical treatment you receive during your stay.
