Neurodevelopmental Therapy
Visiting Neurodevelopmental Therapists are registered physiotherapists or occupational therapists with experience in paediatrics who treat children under 3 years of age within their homes and pre-schools. We see the following children for therapy and equipment needs:
- children with identifiable conditions e.g. cerebral palsy, spina bifida, genetic disorders
- children who have developmental delay
- premature or low birth weight infants who are 'at risk'
- children with plagiocephaly.
What do we do?
- Use neurodevelopmental principles to assess and treat with an emphasis on function
- Support and upskill the caregivers to implement a home programme which uses daily routines to incorporate specific therapeutic activities and techniques to maximise the child's potential
- Work in a transdisciplinary role assessing all areas of a child's development.
