About the Service
The AIRS team offers:
 

• Support for patients whose main health issue is acute Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
• Support to patients suffering COPD while in hospital with other problems which have been stabilised
• Regular home support for patients who have had multiple admissions to hospital in the past.

Referrals for patients who meet the NICE guidelines and are to be discharged home early with AIRS Team support, are accepted from:

• Emergency Care Centre
• Admitting medical registrar or senior medical officer
• Ward medical registrar or senior medical officer

Entry Criteria

• Patients meeting a number of clinical and service criteria
• Patients willing and able to give consent
