The Paediatric Home Care team is made up of senior paediatric skilled registered nurses.

We work within the Auckland District Health Board area and visit children and their families at home, school, preschool, or as arranged in the community.

We see children for short term interventions such as respiratory review, IM medications and wound care, as well as long term follow up for those children with complex health needs.

Our philosophy is to empower the family to become the expert in the care of their child, to maximise their child's health potential and to allow them to be as independent as possible.

A child can be referred to the Starship Paediatric Home Care team if further nursing care is required after their GP or hospital visit.

Most referrals originate internally from Starship Children's Health, but we are also able to accept faxed referrals from other hospitals or from GP services.
