The Infection Control team consists of a small team of Infection Control Nurse Specialists who cover all areas of the Auckland District Health Board.
Our role includes:
- providing a consultancy service for staff
- policy development
- environmental audits
- report writing
- product analysis
- staff education
- construction issues
- surveillance of multiple antibiotic resistant organisms, blood stream infections and surgical site infections.
The Nurse Specialist that covers Starship Children's Health visits the wards regularly from Monday to Friday and is happy to visit families to discuss any infection control issues or concerns parents may have.
