About the Foundation

The Mental Health Foundation is a charitable trust that promotes mental health for all New Zealanders through its:

  • National Information Service and Resource Centre that answers enquiries about mental health/illness from all over New Zealand and provides pamphlets, fact sheets, books and videos on mental health topics
  • Research and advocacy and policy development activities for the rights and needs of people who experience mental illness
  • Activities to counter discrimination and stigma associated with mental illness as a part of the government's Like Minds, Like Mine campaign
  • Depression awareness campaign, Out of the Blue/Kia Marama. See www.outoftheblue.org.nz
  • Suicide prevention information service, Suicide Prevention Information New Zealand (SPINZ).  See www.spinz.org.nz/
  • Mental Health Promotion Training Programmes including mental health awareness, resilience, depression, youth suicide prevention, anti-discrimination and older persons' mental health
