About The Society
The Head Injury Society of NZ Inc is a volunteer charitable organisation whose mission is to ensure a quality of life maximising potential, choice and independence for people with traumatic head injury, their family/whanau and carers.
The Head Injury Society of New Zealand:
- promote the rights and needs of people with head injury, their families and carers
- advocate the service for people with head injury, their families and carers, who provide for their needs for support, treatment, rehabilitation, education, training, recreation and employment
- monitor service provision provided for people with head injury, their families and carers
- promote greater understanding on the part of policy makers, service providers, families and the community at large of the causes and consequences of head injury
- develop education and training programmes and propagate information dealing with head injury for head injury survivors, families, carers, health workers, teachers, employers and members of the public
- promote and assist the formation and operation of affiliates in order that people with head injury, their families and carers shall have access to a support network that ensures provision of information, facilitates use of services that they require and emphasises social contact
- promote the application for Corporate and Associate membership
- promote communication between the Society and the different categories of membership.
