About The Association
The Huntington’s Disease Association Inc.Auckland Branch provides support, education and information to families and individuals who are affected in any way by the Huntington’s gene, and to their carers and health professionals.
The Association has a paid professional Field Liaison Coordinator who plays a pivotal role in providing to all parties concerned:
· factual timely information
· advocacy and support
· liaison with Genetic Services
· liaison with health service providers and disability services
· liaison with researchers
· seminars and a resource library.
The Association serves the Greater Auckland and Northland region and has links with the other New Zealand HD Associations and with the International Huntington’s Disease Association. The Association has close links to the HD research group headed by Professor Richard Faull, University of Auckland. A national bi-monthly newsletter is available and regular seminars and meetings are held.
