Mental Health Services for Older Adults (MHSOA) is a service for service users aged 65 and over and is provided in both an inpatient and community setting. The service is provided on the North Shore, and in Rodney District and West Auckland.
MHSOA provides assessment, treatment and support to service users who:
- Develop new psychiatric disorders in late life
- Have psychiatric complications of a physical illness associated with ageing
- Are under the age of 65 years with an age related organic psychiatric or developmental illness.
This team has been amalgamated with the previous Home & Older Adult’s Service to form an integrated service called Older Adults & Home Health which reports to the division of Medicine & Health of Older People. The MHSOA team has been retained as an important part of the new service and will continue to maintain strong professional links to the Mental Health Services Group.
