Child Rehabilitation Service
The best possible outcomes for your child and family
The Child Rehabilitation Service offers a comprehensive, family-centred rehabilitation service for children 0-16 years old or while still at school. We provide rehabilitation for children and young people with neurological and orthopaedic conditions. This includes inpatient, day patient and outpatient options. We work together with your family to develop a flexible program tailored to meet your child's and family's needs.
The team of skilled professionals includes nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech language therapists, a social worker, a clinical neuropsychologist, play specialists and access to cultural support. The rehabilitation school classroom is staffed by the northern health schools. Your child will recieve 24-hour care provided by registered nurses, enroled nurses and skilled hospital aides. Medical cover is provided by the relevant consultants involved. Our local GP is also available.
We can help you with additional support services such as: interpreters, chaplain services, Pou Manaaki (Maori Liaison Advisor), Consumer Advisor and other community services.
