The Centre for Evidence Based Healthcare Aotearoa is a joint venture between the Auckland District Health Board and the University of Auckland School of Nursing to ensure that healthcare, teaching and research come together. It was formerly known as the Centre for Evidence Based Nursing - Aotearoa (CEBNA)
The Centre undertakes a range of practice-oriented research activities to improve the effectiveness of healthcare practice and healthcare outcomes, both locally in Auckland and nationally within New Zealand.
The Centre has strong links with other EBP organisations including the NZ branch of the Australasian Cochrane Centre, New Zealand Guidelines Group and EPIQ (based at the School of Population Health, University of Auckland).
MISSION
The Centre's mission is to improve the effectiveness of clinical practice and positively influence healthcare outcomes by synthesising evidence to improve quality and effectiveness in healthcare.
Activities include:
- conducting systematic reviews
- disseminating these reviews in user-friendly summary form “Best Practice Information Sheets”
- completing evaluation studies on the implementation of the “Best Practice Information Sheets”
- offering workshops on evidence based practice for nurses and other healthcare professionals
- undertaking primary research.
VISION
The Centre is a joint venture with Auckland District Health Board (ADHB) and the University of Auckland which is New Zealand's number one university. There are also close links with AUT University through their Starship research fellow.
ADHB's vision is Healthy Communities, Quality Healthcare and, as part of the organisation, we help to meet the aim to achieve the right mix of services for the people of Auckland City while balancing the needs of people who live outside our area and require our tertiary services. The Centre works closely with both organisations to improve the effectiveness of healthcare practice and enhance patient safety.
