Fracture Clinics
These clinics are run by most orthopaedic departments for patients that have sustained an injury that has already been treated and further follow-up of that injury is required. Follow-up is necessary to monitor progress and to decide when other steps in management, such as re-manipulation of a fracture, removal of a cast or change of the management plan, are required. Often an x-ray is taken prior to being seen in the clinic.
Although an appointment time is given, the time to have x-rays, casts removed, and have other treatments instigated may take a few hours. At other times appointments may be much quicker, especially if your treatment is progressing smoothly.
Please advise the reception staff if you have other commitments that mean you would like to leave the clinic promptly. They will draw this to the attention of the clinic staff and try to ensure a minimum delay although this may not always be possible.
