Hours

Monday to Friday: 8am - 4.30pm

Description

Social Workers are available to help patients and their families manage the practical, personal and emotional issues that arise due to illness. We can provide counselling and other services that might be needed when you or somebody close to you has a physical and/or emotional health problem or disability.

Social Workers are interested in issues to do with:

  • Illness
  • Disability
  • Loss & Grief
  • Family Violence and other forms of abuse
  • Child Protection
  • Lifestyle Changes
  • Relationships
  • Family Issues
  • Social Justice

Social Workers can assist in practical matters to do with:

  • Community Resources and Services
  • Transport Issues
  • Accommodation and Housing
  • Finances and Benefits
  • Alcohol and Drugs
  • Legal Issues

Social Workers are trained professionals who work within a multidisciplinary team of Doctors, Nurses and other Allied Health Professionals.

Referral Expectations

If you, or your friend/relative, are an inpatient please ask your Nurse or Doctor to refer to our service.

We are also happy to accept self referrals as well, please contact us on the above phone numbers.

Charges

There is no charge for our service.

Travel Directions

We are based at North Shore Hospital on the Lower Ground Floor and at Waitakere Hospital.
