Cervical Myelopathy
Cervical myelopathy results in tingling and numbless of the upper limbs and unsteadiness of gait.
Causes include cervical spondylosis (osteoarthritis of the cervical spine), cervical dosc prolapse and less commonly other degenerative conditions.
The treatment is aimed at decompressing the spinal cord. This is done by surgery which is the lift or take away the posterior part of the vertebrae otherwise known as laminoplasty or laminectomy.
Cervical disc prolapse can be treated by anterior discectomy and fusion or disc replacement.
