The doctor who examines you and the doctor who is involved in your procedure are known as certifying consultants. In New Zealand all women undergoing pregnancy termination must be certified by 2 consultants before the procedure. Abortion is illegal in New Zealand without this process. These consultants must agree that you meet the legal grounds for termination. All Te Mahoe doctors are certifying consultants and will be able to appropriately assess you in regard to these criteria. If one of the consultants feels that you do not meet the criteria, you will have the opportunity to meet with a 3rd consultant. Should this consultant decline you, you would not be able to have a termination at Women's Clinics - Te Mahoe.
