- Capital & Coast DHB Termination of Pregnancy & Counselling Service - Women's Health Service Te Mahoe
Once you have seen a counsellor, you will return to the waiting room. A doctor will call you next. Once again, the doctor would like to speak with you alone before you are joined by your support person. The doctor will ask you some questions about your health and will review with you the lab results from the tests that were done by your GP. The doctor will explain to you any abnormalities and may prescribe medicine for you, if necessary. Additional blood tests or swabs may be required if your GP didn't do them.
The doctor will listen to your heart and lungs and will check your weight, blood pressure and do a brief vaginal exam to check the size of the pregnancy. S\he will discuss birth control with you and will prescribe an appropriate method for you.
