North Harbour Hospital is the only private surgical in-patient hospital on Auckland’s North Shore. Centrally situated North of the Auckland Harbour Bridge, North Harbour Hospital undertakes nearly 6,000 operations annually, has 6 operating rooms, has 59 beds and is widely known amongst patients and specialists in the area.

North Harbour Hospital was established in 1991, and provides very pleasant, modern private accommodation for patients.

Some operations undertaken at North Harbour Hospital are day stay procedures; and some require patients to stay longer.  North Harbour Hospital has a modern, well designed day stay unit that is very efficient yet ensures optimal privacy and comfort for patients of all types. The day stay unit is also very child friendly and includes a dedicated play area.

Southern Cross has credentialled specialists to operate at North Harbour’s four well-appointed theatres. The specialists undertake a very wide range of elective surgical operations including general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, gynaecological surgery, ear nose and throat, urology, and plastic surgery. The hospital counts amongst its special features two Laminar Flow theatres.

Rooms for overnight stay and facilities are comfortable, with ensuites, television and radios in all rooms. Quality meals are provided for overnight patients. Visitor meals can also be arranged if requested early in the day, for a reasonable charge. Daily newspapers are also delivered on request.

A new service called Intermediate Care was launched 21st June 2010. This service provides an enhanced level of care for patients and utilises state of the art dynamic monitoring equipment, provides for invasive monitoring, infusions and a nurse to patient ratio of 1:2.

Visiting hours are 10am to 8.30pm by request, but visitors can be accommodated outside these times by arrangement with the hospital.

The hospital is set amongst charming gardens, in a relaxed environment. Ample visitor parking is available.
