Description
Improving the health of Aucklanders through quality general practice
ProCare is New Zealand’s largest network of GPs and general practice teams. We provide professional, quality family healthcare to more than 850,000 Aucklanders, from Helensville to Waiuku.
We represent more than 200 general practices that are all individually owned, often family-run practices, and support them with best-practice clinical services, innovative primary health programmes and ongoing professional development.
As their PHO (primary health organisation) we also advocate on their behalf to Government, act as their integration point with the DHBs and other healthcare organisations, and take a leadership role to co-ordinate their responses during crises or pandemics.
All ProCare practices must meet specific best-practice quality standards to become part of our network. In return we offer them the ProCare advantage - specialised business assistance through our dedicated Practice Engagement Team, up to date access and training on new clinical services and pathways, tailored clinical programmes specific to Auckland regional needs, personalised professional development events and training, and successful community health promotion initiatives for high needs Maori, Pacific and South Asian communities.
In addition, ProCare practices can offer their patients:
- 24 hour care through our free nurse triage telephone service, which helps ProCare patients with medical advice from home when the practice is closed
- connections and referrals to our subsidised ProCare Psychological Services (PPS) and our free Self-Management (chronic care and life skills) courses.
