Franklin Memorial Hospital is located in country-like surroundings with rural views.  As the name suggests, the Hospital (opened in 1923) was a war memorial bequeathed to the town.

It was originally a General Hospital before becoming an Obstetric Hospital in 1956.  Since then it has become an Older Adult Care Facility, which is a satellite unit of Counties Manukau Health.

Franklin Memorial Hospital has 34 staff covering 18 beds (Hospital Level Residential Care, Respite and Palliative Care).

The District Nurse clinic is located at the side entrance of Franklin Memorial Hospital, other clinics are also located here look for the Outpatient signage to the left as you drive into the carpark.

Visiting Hours

As New Zealand has moved into the new COVID-19 Protection Framework, commonly known as the ‘traffic light’ system our visiting policies have changed to reflect this.

Face masks must still be worn when visiting any CM Health facilities. Please use the NZ COVID Tracer app to scan our QR code each time you visit our hospital and clinics.

If unwell, get a COVID-19 test and stay home. If you have any questions call Healthline on 0800 611 116.

There are some specialised services in the hospital where visiting hours may vary, for example, the Delivery Suite, or Intensive Care Unit. In these cases, signs will be in place with the relevant information. If you are not sure, please feel free to contact us at the numbers listed below:
