Profile

Paul graduated from Dundee University Medical School in 2000. He undertook basic and advanced surgical training in the UK, completing Otorhinolaryngology (ORL) Fellowship training in 2007. He undertook postgraduate fellowship training in Otology and Skull based surgery in Sydney in 2009 and was the Dunedin ORL Department Teaching Fellow in 2010. He returned to the UK following this and took a consultant position until 2012, then returned to New Zealand in 2013.

Paul is currently a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member and past Secretary of the New Zealand Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery.

Paul holds consultant positions in Dunedin and Kew Public Hospitals and is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Otago Medical School. Paul has an active interest in education and training and is currently the Chair Elect of the New Zealand ORL National Training and Education Committee and is on the faculty for the New Zealand Temporal Bone Training course.

Interests

Paul’s areas of special clinical interest are ear disease and surgery, with a focus on paediatric ear surgery, surgery for hearing loss and hearing implant surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery and facial plastic skin lesion surgery.
