BreastScreen Auckland is part of BreastScreen Aotearoa.
BreastScreen Aotearoa is a free national breast screening programme that checks women for early detection of breast cancer. The programme aims to increase the number of women surviving breast cancer through regular two yearly screening.

Services Provided
BreastScreen Aotearoa provides a free screening mammogram to all women aged between 45-69 years. Any follow-up assessment that is required as a result of the BreastScreening mammogram is also free, and covered under the programme.

To be eligible to enrol with the BreastScreening programme you must be:

1. A women aged between 45 and 69 years
2. Have no symptoms of breast cancer 
3. Have no evidence of breast cancer. If you have been previously diagnosed with breast cancer, you can enrol in the programme if it has been at least five years since your diagnosis.
4. Have not had a mammogram within the last 12 months.
5. Are not pregnant or you are not breast feeding.
6. Are a New Zealand Resident. This includes women who usually live in the Cook Islands, Nuie and Tokelau.
7. If you have any questions regarding your eligibility to enrol on the programme, please feel free to call us on 0800 270 200 (Option 2) within Auckland or alternatively (09) 522 4765 if calling from outside Auckland.

It is acceptable for women to access private mammograms on the alternate years between their free mammograms.

Services not Provided
BreastScreen Aotearoa does not provide screening services for any women who do not meet the eligibility criteria to enrol on the programme. Please feel free to call us on (09) 522 4765.

Your GP may also enrol you, although you do not need a referral from your GP to enrol on the programme.

Women can also access the BreastScreening Aotearoa programme in the intervening years of their paid private mammograms providing they meet the eligibility criteria as listed above.

The service is free for all eligible women.

The BreastScreen Auckland Remuera Clinic is located just a short walk from both Bus and Train Services.

The closest Train station is Newmarket. Exit the station via the Remuera Road exit and walk along Remuera Road to St Marks Road. Turn into St Marks Road and take first left for MacMurray Road. The clinic is located at No 1 MacMurray Road (the third building on the right side of the road).

Many buses stop at Newmarket Broadway. Take the same directions as above.

Off street parking is available at the Remuera Clinic (1 MacMurray Road).

At our mobile unit locations, generally parking is available in the immediate vicinity of the unit.
