Public Service

Counties Manukau Health Lymphoedema Service

Hours

The Lymphoedema Service is available Monday to Friday 8.00am - 4.30pm, although treatment hours vary between clinics.

A telephone messaging system is available outside these hours.

Description

The Lymphoedema Service is part of Home Health Care and is based at Home Health Care, Orakau Rd, Mangere, with satellite clinics at Home Health Care, Papakura, and Botany SuperClinic.

Where possible, the service endeavours to see patients at a clinic nearest to their home. However, at times patients may be asked to travel to one of the other clinics for treatment.

The Lymphoedema Team are multidisciplinary registered healthcare professionals, specialised in the  assessment and treatment of lymphoedema.

The Counties Manukau Health Lymphoedema Service provides assessment, treatment and self management plans.  It also provides education and awareness of the risk of developing lymphoedema and to minimise its impact.

Although lymphoedema is a chronic condition it can be well managed.

Referral Expectations

Referrals are accepted from all health professionals on the designated Lymphoedema Service referral form.  Referrals should be faxed or posted (see contact details).

Referrals may be made for people of all ages residing in a domestic residence within the CMDHB area.

A letter will be sent to patients on receipt of referral. Patients accepted for treatment will be placed on a waiting list and contacted with an appointment as soon as a practitioner is available. If your condition becomes worse while you are waiting to be assessed, you should contact your GP.
