The Child and Youth Health Team is part of the Community Child Health and Disability Service. We provide a range of community health services to school aged children, young people and their families.
Our aim is to promote the health and well-being of children and young people in the community. We visit our clients in their homes and in schools.
The services we offer include:
- Assessment, consultancy and referral for children and young people with health issues

Programmes for specific health problems e.g. asthma education, bed wetting

Self referral clinics in some schools

Nurse-led clinic at Wesley Primary School: Mana Health Clinic
- Social Workers in Schools programmes in some schools
- Links with other health and social services

Health Promoting Schools programme

Advice and consultation regarding school health policies
- Consultation and assistance with school health promotion programmes, including health education

Maori and Pacific health promotion initiatives within school settings

Nutrition assessment and education

Health assessments for students in alternative education settings

Administering monthly prophylactic Bicillin injections and educating young people with rheumatic fever

Year 7 Boostrix Immunisation programme in schools and information for families about New Zealand's recommended immunisation schedule
