Description

Dr Edwards is a very experienced Dermatologist having been in practice for over 20 years.

She has a particular interest in :

  • MELANOMA & SKIN CANCER
    • Prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer particularly Melanoma skin cancer
  • Recent advances in diagnosis and  treatment of skin cancer, including DERMATOSCOPY
  • ECZEMA
  • PSORIASIS
  • ACNE
  • FUNGAL and other types of skin infections and infestations
  • VULVAL disorders - particularly Lichen Sclerosus and Lichen Planus

Dr Edwards works in private practice at the Dermatology Clinic at 110 Bealey Avenue, Christchurch.

Dermatology is a branch of medicine dealing with the skin and its diseases and skin cancer. A doctor who specialises in this is called a Dermatologist. 

Dermatologist have wide expertise in all areas of skin disease, this includes conditions affecting the hair and nails, such as alopecia.

Referral Expectations

A dermatologist will diagnose  and treat skin diseases by taking a careful clinical history and examining the whole skin. It is important to know all the details at the time, particularly any MEDICINES taken, CREAMS and LOTIONS used that may have been obtained either from the referring doctor, chemist, friend or family.  

A dermatologist is skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer.

On occasion it is necessary to do a skin biopsy to either remove a suspected skin cancer, or to a make a correct diagnosis. This is a usually a simple minor procedure done under a local anaesthetic.
