The goal of our service is to reduce the impact of infectious diseases in Northland, especially the impact on vulnerable populations. We achieve this goal through the follow-up of people with notifiable diseases and the use of population health prevention and control programmes.
Infectious diseases that are notifiable under the Health Act 1956 and the Tuberculosis Act 1948 are diseases which may pose a threat to other people and to the health of the public. Click here to see how to notify diseases in Northland.
All notifications are followed up either by staff from the Northland Public Health Unit or by staff employed by a District Council.
