Blood Tests in Pregnancy
A number of blood tests are recommended at three different points of pregnancy:
- first contact
- 26-28 weeks
- 36 weeks
Some, like tests for anaemia, are repeated each time whereas others are tested only once such as screening for Hepatitis B at the first point. We screen for problems for which we can then provide treatment to reduce the effects on the baby.
Also see the section on HIV screening.
