Description

Mr John Tonkin is an established orthopaedic surgeon specialising in Hand, Upper Limb & Sports Orthopaedic injuries.
 
John completed his specialist training in Auckland between 1976 and 1980 before providing public service at Middlemore Hospital. John established his private practice in 1985 at 92 Mountain Road, Epsom, and is a consultant for the Armed Forces at the Naval Base in Devonport.
 
Mr Tonkin's particular areas of interest include:
  • Surgery of the Hand & Upper Extremity including -
    • Traumatic, Degenerative & other acquired conditions
    • Repair & Reconstruction of Nerve, Muscle Tendon, Ligament & Bone & Joint Injuries
    • Dupuytren's Contracture & Entrapment Neuropathies (Carpal Tunnel Syndrome)
    • Rheumatoid & Osteoarthritis including Joint Replacement.

 

Hours

Please contact the practice during business hours, Monday to Friday, to arrange an appointment.

My consulting days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. I operate at Auckland Surgical Centre, Remuera on Thursday.

Referral Expectations

You need to bring with you to your appointment:

1.       Any letters or reports from your doctor or hospital.
2.       Any X-Rays, CT or MRI films and reports.
3.       All medicines you are taking including herbal and natural remedies.
4.       Your pharmaceutical entitlement card.
5.       Your ACC or Work Accident Provider number, if you have one.

Should surgery be required, estimation of costs is provided. We welcome insurance and ACC referrals and will assist with documentation completion.
