Paediatric and Adolescent Sexual Abuse Service
Clinical Services
The service provides health care for children and young people, aged 0 – 17 years, following a disclosure of historic sexual abuse or recent sexual assault.
Clinics are held every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays providing:
- Medical assessments
- Forensic assessments
- Education, reassurance and support
- Referral to counselling
- Screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections
- Sexual health and contraception advice
- Emergency contraception
- Pregnancy testing
- Register ACC claims.
Educational Services
Clinical staff work throughout Northland to raise awareness and to support actions that prevent and protect children from sexual abuse; by providing:
- Education
- Information and resources
- Consultation and advice
- Consultation on childhood sexual behaviours.
