The Quality & Improvement Directorate provides a monitoring and advisory service to Northland District Health Board. It also provides assistance to staff in the development of patient, staff and referrer surveys, organisational policies and procedures, and other clinical documents.
The Quality & Improvement Directorate has a key role in the management of feedback (complaints, compliments and suggestions), monitoring of incidents and the preparation of the organisation for HDSS Certification Auditing.
It also sponsors an annual Quality Award programme each year and supports staff to enter projects.

Infection Control
The Infection Prevention & Control Team work collaboratively and have their own areas of responsibility. Sandra Cunningham covers Surgical Wards and Emergency Dept, Megan van Boldrick covers ICU, Oncology and Maternity and Paediatrics with assistance from Mo Atkinson who covers Medical, Renal, MHU and Regional Hospitals. The Community portfolio is shared. All other Key Result Areas are shared by the team.
Certification
The Audit/Quality Coordinator prepares the organisation to be audited against the Health & Disability Sector Standards which support the safe provision of services to the consumer.
