Southern Cross Hospital Wellington is a modern, purpose-built, private surgical facility. It was established in 1992 to meet the needs of the greater Wellington region, and has undergone major additions since its original design, including a specialist centre used for consultations and, more recently, the commissioning of a third operating theatre.

A number of surgical and medical specialists work at the site. We currently offer a wide range of elective surgical services including orthopaedics, urology, ophthalmology, ENT, gynaecology, general surgery, vascular surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, oral and maxillofacial surgery and paediatric surgery.

Here’s what you can expect from Southern Cross Hospital Wellington:

• A modern, up-to-date facility with friendly, professional and caring staff.
• We will make sure that you are as comfortable as possible. All private rooms have a large ensuite, television and radio.  There is a modern day-stay facility for those who do not require an overnight stay.
• Nourishing, quality meals are the ‘order of the day’ for overnight patients and we can meet all of your special dietary needs.
• We make it easy for you by ensuring that from admission to discharge the administrative procedure runs as smoothly as possible.
• Parking is free and we deliver complimentary newspapers on request.
• Visiting hours are not restricted and we aim to ensure a restful and private environment for all of our patients.

Parking is readily available within hospital grounds and is free. As you will be unable to drive following your procedure/surgery and anaesthetic, we recommend organising transport to and from the hospital in advance.

Our day-stay areas are designed to comfortably meet the needs of patients admitted for procedures that do not require an overnight stay.

Those who do stay overnight may have an individual or shared room. Facilities include an ensuite, telephone, television and radio. Please note, charges may apply to telephone calls. The daily newspaper is available and our meals have been designed to be appetising and nourishing and to meet your specific dietary requirements.

It is advisable that you do not bring valuables including jewellery and cash as Southern Cross is unable to take responsibility for the safe keeping of valuables if brought to hospital.
