Description

Age Concern Rotorua is a not-for profit charity and your first port of call for matters relating to the wellbeing of older people in the greater Rotorua region.

We field all sorts of enquiries pertaining to all sorts of matters – and we always do our absolute best to apply our knowledge and experience to the matter at hand and to point people in the right direction.

Our core services are focused around keeping older people connected with the local community.

Fees and Charges Description

Membership is $15.00 for a single person and $20.00 for a couple. All activities are free to members. 

Donations play an important part in funding Age Concern Rotorua, allowing us to provide essential services to older people in our community. Donations are welcome at any time.

Tue – Thu 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Public Holidays: Closed ANZAC Day (25 Apr), King's Birthday (3 Jun), Matariki (28 Jun), Labour Day (28 Oct), Auckland Anniversary (27 Jan), Waitangi Day (6 Feb), Good Friday (18 Apr), Easter Sunday (20 Apr), Easter Monday (21 Apr).

Services Provided

Support Services, Information, Advice and Personal Advocacy

Responding in person/phone to a range of queries from older people and their carers eg. Advising where to obtain a service, what is available. Providing confidential support and empowerment to older people.

Accredited Visiting Service

A befriending service that provides regular visits to older people who would like more company. Our visitors are volunteers who are keen to spend time with an older person for about an hour each week to enjoy conversation and shared interests and activities.

Shopping Service

Volunteers are available assist an older person with their grocery shopping, including taking them to the supermarket, assisting in shopping, returning them home and unpacking their groceries. They can also support with online shopping and collecting click and collect purchases. We also have a minibus shopping service for larger groups requiring social contact.

Skills Courses

Wellness Programme: Provides regular visits to our members to assess health and mental wellbeing and suggests ways forward, Mobility Scooter Safety Programme, Staying Safe: Providing options for older people to update driving skills, and support them to stay active and mobile.

Maintenance Handyman Service

We can facilitate access to a retired tradesperson who provide our older people with a standard rate for maintenance services around the home.

Social and group activities

Social Activities: Holding events that provide social connection between older people eg. drop in centres, out and abouters., Social Connection Activities: minibus trips, Breakfast Club, Intrepid Journeys, Activities: Expo, Pink Breakfast, Speaking Engagements
