CAB provides free, confidential, independent information and advice about your rights under the law in NZ and how to resolve your issues - educating and empowering.
There are no criteria to meet to use the CAB service – they will help and advise anyone.
They help people to;

  • understand their rights and obligations under the law and how to resolve their issues
  • have the confidence and support they need to take action
  • access the services they are entitled to

CAB are contactable by phone, by email (via their website online enquiry form) or face to face. 

Language support services are available, including an on-demand phone interpreter service and CAB interviewers around the motu who can offer the CAB service in other languages. Face-to-face interpreters may sometimes be available (require a booking).

One paid manager and a team of marvellous, skilled, knowledgeable and friendly volunteer Bureau Interviewers.

Walk in

  • 155 Princes St (arrive between 10.00 and 2.30 Mon-Th or 10.00 and 11.30 Fr to ensure we have time to help you), no appointments (first in, first helped)

Phone us first to check if the volunteers on shift can see you (there may already be clients here, and we don't want you to be waiting for a long time).
When you ring, also tell us a bit about your issue so we can prepare.

CAB has three language support options; Access to an on-demand phone interpreter service - no need for a booking CAB volunteers around the country can offer clients the CAB service in your language (call to see who is available on any given day). A free face-to-face interpreter can sometimes be booked to be here with clients at CAB - through Transnational (Former Refugees have priority).
