West Coast PHO provides a Primary Health Brief Intervention Counselling Programme to ensure that people's emotional and mental health is addressed alongside their physical health.

If people fulfil the criteria for this programme, they can receive 6 free counselling sessions (including late or no cancellation).

Experienced health professionals work alongside the medical centres to ensure that people's emotional and mental health is addressed along with their physical health. The PHO is providing Brief Intervention Counselling for mild to moderate mental health problems. Wherever possible, these counselling sessions are held in the PHO, medical centre where the person is enrolled, and at schools. Counselling covers issues such as: relieving anxiety and depression understanding addiction and facilitating change managing stressful situations understanding change including loss and grief improving problem-solving and setting future directions increasing resilience and satisfaction with life

Youth can self-refer to our programme, or can be referred by GPs, nurses, family members, school teachers or any other concerned party.
