Referral

For ACC Rongoa Māori

  1. Have an ACC covered injury:  You must have an approved ACC claim for your injury before ACC will fund Rongoa Māori as part of your rehabilitation plan.  If you already have a claim number, you don't need a health professional referral to ask for Rongoa Māori - your request can come directly from you.
  2. Request Rongoa Māori support:  Contact the ACC recovery team or your recovery coordinator (the person managing your claim) to request inclusion of Rongoa Māori services in your rehabilitation plan.
    • Phone:  0800101996.
    • Email:  claims@acc.co.nz.
    • MyACC:  Register with or log into the MyACC
  3. Tell ACC who you would like to see:
    • Nominate Awhina Ora as your Rongoa Māori Services Vendor/Provider,
    • Give them our vendor ID number - VBL648.
    • ACC will work with you immediately over the phone to initiate your 'purchase order' process.
  4. Get approval:  ACC must approve your request before Rongoa Māori Services can commence.  Once we receive your purchase order, we will contact you and arrange scheduling of your sessions.

For EAP Rongoa Māori:

To access Rongoā Māori or general support through an EAP (Employee Assistance Programme), your whānau can follow these direct steps:

  1. Confirm Eligibility: The kiritaki (client) should check with their employer, HR department, or workplace intranet to confirm which EAP provider their organisation uses (e.g., Habit Health, Telus Health, Ignite, Howden Care, Vitae, Southern Cross).
  1. Contact the Provider: They must call the provider’s national 0800 number or use their online booking portal. These services are free and confidential for employees.
  1. Request Rongoā Māori: When speaking with the intake coordinator, the kiritaki should explicitly state they wish to access Rongoā Māori services through Awhina Ora Charitable Trust.
