Description

At Tāmaki Hands we assess and manage a wide range of hand, wrist and elbow injuries and conditions for both adults and children. This includes most kinds of hand or arm problems, as well as injuries caused at work, sports or home. Some examples are:

  • broken bones
  • dislocations
  • crush injuries
  • cuts & amputations
  • strains & sprains
  • tendon & nerve injuries
  • burns
  • arthritis
  • Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
  • after operation care
  • RSI / OOS
  • complex regional pain syndrome

On your first visit we will fully assess your arm and advise and explain how we can help you get the best outcome. Your treatment can include:

  • explaining your injury or condition
  • treating your wound and scar
  • making you a custom-made splint or fitting a brace
  • planning an individual exercise program for you
  • using the latest software to help you manage your rehab
  • discussing preventative management
  • providing ergonomic advice
  • sending you for an x-ray or ultrasound
  • referring you to a hand surgeon

Referral

Same-day appointments can be available.
Referrers: patients can be referred through your practice management system such as Healthlink or S&R (Specialists & Referrals), online through our website or facebook, phone, email, fax or hand-delivered by the patient. Click here for referral form and to order referral pads.

Patients: self-referrals are also welcome, however new injuries that are bleeding and/or misshapen should be seen at an urgent care or emergency department first.

Fees and Charges Description

ACC: There is no surcharge for current ACC approved claims, including most splints and braces. There will be a charge for items not covered by ACC, for example if you need compression tape or gloves or scar management products.

EFTPOS and credit card payments available.

Southern Cross easy claim is available for members.

Train: The Eastern Line runs to Sylvia Park.

Bus: Bus stops are located within the grounds of Sylvia Park on the internal ring road under the flyover, closest to Mt Wellington Highway.

Tāmaki Hands is in the Sylvia Park Medical Centre Level-1 (lift available)

Car: Car parks are available at the medical centre, or park opposite the ANZ black & white building in Car Park 8A.

Bike: Bike racks are located near most entrances around the outside of the centre.

Taxi: You can choose your drop off and pick up point.
