Description
Quitline is committed to helping all New Zealanders quit smoking, with a particular focus on Māori, Pacific peoples and pregnant women. Our free services are funded by the Ministry of Health.
People who smoke can access our support via telephone, text or online. We help clients to understand the three parts of their smoking addiction - chemical, emotional and habitual - and formulate strategies for beating these. To combat the chemical part of the addiction we provide subsidised nicotine patches, gum and lozenges.
In addition, to enable health professionals in the community to provide subsidised nicotine patches, gum and lozenges we coordinate the Quitcard programme.
Quitline is available 24 hours / 7 days a week by free texting 4006 or calling 0800 778 778 or visiting Quit.org.nz
Quitline is run as part of the National Telehealth Service.
