Description

Cancer Support NZ provides free, practical complementary support that sits alongside medical treatment, offering practical psychosocial support for people facing cancer. Our programmes help manage the physical, emotional, invisible and visible effects of cancer treatment, including changes in confidence, wellbeing, and quality of life.

Who Can Access
  • People with a cancer diagnosis
  • All cancer types and stages from diagnosis, through treatment and beyond
  • All adults (16+), genders, and backgrounds
Cost
Free of charge.

How This Helps
Cancer and its treatment can impact physical appearance, psychological wellbeing, and quality of life.

Our programmes support self-management, improve confidence and wellbeing, reduce social isolation, and help patients regain a sense of control during and after treatment.

For Health Professionals
Cancer Support NZ provides a non-medical, practical and tangible supportive care service that complements oncology and primary care.

We support patients with
  • Psychosocial wellbeing and emotional support
  • Management of appearance related side effects of treatment
  • Confidence, self-esteem, and quality of life
  • Practical self-management strategies to support daily functioning
  • Peer support and group-based interventions
  • Workplace guidance to support return to work and employment navigation

Patients can self-refer or be referred by oncology teams, GPs, nurses, and allied health professionals via www.cancersupport.org.nz/referral

Our service is FREE for every person, with any cancer, at every stage.

There is no requirement to be in active treatment.
