Description

The Sunshine Service provides transport within the city boundary (and including Wainui, Makaraka, Manutuke, Patutahi and Ormond) for the elderly and people with disabilities to the hospital, medical appointments, and social and recreational activities. 
The service has 3 full height, purpose built vans with hydraulic hoists for wheelchair accessability and a smaller van that caters for passengers & wheelchairs as well.
Our drivers are volunteers who are rostered weekly and undergo special training.

Our manager is employed 5 mornings a week to organise the bookings, and these must be made the day before.

Any cancellations should be made as early as possible
Clients must be eligible to use the Service, i.e. elderly or disabled

 

Staff

Our volunteer drivers are rostered to drive the vehicles each week day. Most of these drivers are retired persons wishing to give something back to their community

Fees and Charges Description

  • Drivers will collect a charge of $5 one way or $10 return (within city limits),
  • $10 each way for Manutuke, Patutahi and Ormond.  Pay by Cash (change available), (No eftpos available). Online banking is available
  • Hospital appointments are no charge

8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Mon – Fri 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Office hours: 7 am - 12 Noon, Monday to Friday
Driving hours: 8am to 3pm, Monday to Friday
