Description

Our work is directed towards supporting people who are impacted by interpersonal violence (whether currently or in the past). 

Our services include: 

  • Providing primary intervention and support to individuals and their families/whānau 
  • Undertaking community awareness and education activities which are designed to highlight the impacts of interpersonal violence on individuals, families/whānau and communities
  • Advocating for just social and legal systems in order to enhance the ability of individuals, their families/whānau to live safely and respectfully

Staff

We have both male and female who are Family Violence Specialists. This includes registered counseling staff, mental health nurse, whānau ora navagator, plus student placement for Counsling degree.

Services Provided

Abuse and violence support

We provide a range of individual and group based services and programmes for women including: Counselling to assist women who are currently living in abusive relationships or who are dealing with the effects of past abuse (including repeating patterns of behaviour within relationships) Safety planning and support for women who choose to remain in, are contemplating leaving or have recently left an abusive relationship Protection order advice, assistance and referral for women who may require legal protection for themselves and/or their children Individual and group services for women who perpetrate violence or who are at risk of becoming perpetrators Group based education and support programmes to assist women in addressing issues of confidence, assertiveness, goal setting, making choices and expressing anger safely We provide both individual and group based programmes for children and young people, depending upon their needs and circumstances. Our programmes are delivered by qualified counsellors who are also accredited facilitators and who have a wealth of experience in working with children and young people.

Stopping violence services

We provide a Non-Violent programme for men and women for both Ministry of Justice and Corrections. We offer counselling for perpetrators. Our services are suitable for people who are using violence or concerned about their risk of using violence or want to find better ways to maintain healthy relationships.
