TANI supports Asian New Zealanders to enjoy optimal quality of life and wellbeing and to develop strong and healthy Asian communities in Aotearoa New Zealand by:

  • Identifying and responding to changing needs
  • Raising health awareness and educating Asian communities
  • Promoting health messages and service information to the communities 
  • Bridge gaps between service provision and Asian health needs
  • Providing cultural advice
  • Networking and connecting up diverse Asian communities
  • Advocating for and promoting the welfare of these communities
  • Being a credible national voice.

How do we do this?

- Deliver health seminars, workshops, and forums on topics relating to health and wellbeing.

- Provide Health Literacy Programme across the wider Auckland region for Asian communities such as Chinese, Korean, Japanese and South Asian communities.

- Provide service information relevant to Asian health and social services.

- Hold quarterly Regional Network Public Meetings to update Asian health initiatives and support to build connections.

- Research in partnership with universities.

- Advocate and provide cultural advice to various Government and Non-Government service providers.

- Liaise with various statutory and non-statutory agencies and ethnic groups to meet the aims of TANI.
